Youth theater is defined in
this web site as plays primarily by or for youth. While the term
"youth" obviously includes the grade school children, it has become
known to also include most people who have not yet become employed
for the first time in a full time job, to wit, college kids.
There have obviously been other shows which young people would
enjoy from Amahl and the Night Visitor to The Sound of
Music and there have been shows which were primarily cast with
youth, for instance The Wizard of Oz and Oliver. The
shows listed below were either workshops for the youth or
primarily youth-oriented subject matter, and usually both.
The Blazing Kids Youth Theater at The Lebowsky Center was revived
with regular shows in 1996 due to a grant from a fund established in
the memory of Carly Knipe.
